Module 3
A strong AIM statement follows a simple four-part structure that keeps your quality improvement work focused and measurable. It clearly defines what you are improving, for whom, the amount of change expected, and the timeframe for achieving it.
Use this structure:
- What you are trying to improve (specific, measurable outcome)
- For whom (specific population, age range, setting)
- By how much (from baseline to target)
- By when (specific date or timeframe)
Example
"Increase/decrease [specific outcome] for [population] from [baseline] to [goal] by [date]."
