Before launching a PDSA cycle, think through which interventions are most likely to produce meaningful change — and in what order. Use the Effort/Impact Matrix from Module 5 and ask:
- How likely is this change to impact the key driver it targets?
- How feasible is it to test with the current team and resources?
- What is the risk if the change doesn’t work as expected?
- Can we test this on a small enough scale to learn quickly?

Start with the change idea that combines a high likelihood of impact with low risk and manageable effort. Quick wins build team confidence and demonstrate to leadership that the QI approach is working.
