Family Advisory Network feature: Understanding the FAN role
- Published July 27, 2021
Family Advisory Network (FAN) representatives wear many hats within the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program. These individuals are both passionate about improving pediatric emergency care and skilled in supporting systems-level change. In many cases, in addition to personal experiences with pediatric emergency care, they also have professional experience in clinical or prehospital settings.
Their ultimate goal is to be a resource across EMSC and help put patients and families at the center of program activities. To help the EMSC team better understand how to leverage the support of FAN representatives, the FAN Steering Committee recently developed a formal description of the FAN role.
