No, there is not additional financial support for the Scholars/ Fellows time. However, because of the program’s alignment with the EMSC global mission, Scholars and Fellows will have access to other resources and personnel within the EIIC.

No, Scholars and Fellows will not be required to travel for the length of their appointment. The EMSC program engages individuals from all US states and territories, so all activities will be held virtually.

EMSC Scholars Program: 2-4 hours per week

EMSC Fellows Program: 2-4 hours per month

Both the Scholars and Fellows program have an appointment length of 1 – 2 years.

In an effort to grow future leaders within the EMSC space, the EIIC offers two opportunities to engage early career clinicians and health systems trainees. The main differences between the Scholars and Fellows program are listed below.

Yes, you are welcome to apply for both the Scholars and Fellows program. If you chose to do so, please submit an application for each program. If you’d like to have one Letter of Recommendation for both applications please email scholarsandfellows@emscimprovement.center to ensure that the letter is connected to both applications.

While the work we do is directly related to healthcare systems, it is not expected that each Scholar or Fellow will be directly involved in patient care. In fact, individuals involved in healthcare administration, health policy, and public health may be well suited for both programs.

Yes, medical students are welcome to apply to both the Scholars and Fellows program.

Yes, the Scholars project is meant to be a unique project focused on a key area(s) of interest. If you are selected as an EMSC Scholar, we will work with you to ensure that your project fulfills the requirements for your capstone project.

No, individuals of all ages are welcome to apply for the program. Both the Scholars and the Fellows program are geared toward growing leaders within the EMSC space, regardless of age.

The EMSC Scholars and Fellows Program is open to early career (<5yrs post training) clinicians and health-systems professionals including but not limited to:

• Emergency medical technicians
• Paramedics
• Nurses
• Advanced practice providers
• Physicians
• Graduate students in a related field (i.e. health policy, healthcare administration, and public health)
• Early career faculty in a related field (i.e. health policy, healthcare administration, and public health)

Applications for the EMSC Scholars and Fellows Program are being accepted through October 31, 2023.

We are asking applicants to submit one Letter of Recommendation. In the application there is a section asking for the name, title and email of the individual writing the Letter of Recommendation. In acknowledgement that many individuals writing a Letter of Recommendation would like to submit without the applicant reading the letter, we are asking for the individual writing the Letter of Recommendation to email their letter to (scholarsandfellows@emscimprovement.center) with the subject “EMSC Scholars/ Fellows Program Letter of Recommendation – Applicant Name”.

Once a Letter of Recommendation is received, we will map it to your application and send an email to the address listed on your application. Only applications with a Letter of Recommendation submitted by October 15, 2023 will be reviewed for a Scholar or Fellow position.

• Abstracts or scholarly manuscripts
• Conference or poster presentations
• Educational tools, resources, or presentations
• Essays, editorials or commentaries
• Advocacy campaign or flyer
• Social media campaigns
• Blogs
• Programs or workshops you’ve developed
• Marketing efforts
• Data visualization technique

Yes. The EMSC Scholars will work alongside EIIC leaders to develop and implement a unique project focused on two or more key areas of interest. In order to better align your goals with those of the EIIC, please select the top three areas that you would be most interested in exploring for your project. No. You may select up to 3 areas of interest but you are only required to submit your first choice. If you do not have a second and/ or third choice, please select “None” for the corresponding questions on the application.
