Formation & Roles

The Prehospital Pediatric Readiness Steering Committee was formed as part of a joint national effort to improve the quality of prehospital pediatric emergency care under the umbrella of the National Pediatric Readiness Project. This committee’s scope concentrates on addressing pediatric readiness gaps within the prehospital environment and includes planning, development, evaluation, dissemination, measurement, feedback and logistical activities associated with addressing prehospital emergency care gaps.

Three working groups were formed to work on various aspects of prehospital pediatric readiness: Dissemination, Toolkit, and Assessment. Initial efforts of the Steering Committee will focus on 9-1-1 EMS agencies with the potential to expand work into other aspects of EMS systems (e.g., interfacility transports, community paramedicine/mobile integrated healthcare, and disaster preparedness).
