Preparing for the National Trauma Registry for Children (NTRC): Ensuring Quality Data
Sept. 1, 2005 - Feb. 29, 2008
- Project Overview
- The goal of this project was to determine the quality of pediatric data that might be contributed to a National Trauma Registry for Children (NTRC) Information System.
The investigator (1) identified the proportion of pediatric cases captured in current state trauma registries and determined whether this number was representative of pediatric trauma within the state and nation; (2) determined the frequency of NTRC defined data elements (both the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System for Children (NEISSC) and case contribution portion) submitted to state trauma registries and from a sampling of hospitals that also contributed to state trauma registries; and (3) determined those pediatric trauma cases that might be excluded from national and state inpatient discharge data by using the NTRC inclusion criteria and the inclusion/exclusion criteria from state trauma registries. - Institution
