Reducing Errors in Pediatric Trauma Resuscitation Using a Checklist

Sept. 1, 2010 - Aug. 31, 2013

Grant Number
H34MC19351
Project Overview
Trauma is the leading cause of death and acquired disability in children. We will develop and evaluate a checklist aiming to reduce errors and improve team performance during trauma resuscitations. The checklist will be disseminated in a toolkit for implementation at other hospitals. The goals of this project are to (1) design checklist that reduces errors in simulated pediatric trauma resuscitation; (2) evaluate the impact of checklists on the occurrence of errors in actual pediatric trauma resuscitations; and (3) disseminate a toolkit for implementing checklists into pediatric trauma resuscitation.
