Evaluation of the Pediatric Assessment Triangle (PAT) as an Assessment Tool for Children in the Prehospital Setting
Sept. 1, 2007 - Feb. 28, 2011
- Project Overview
- This study will provide the much-needed evaluation of the Pediatric Assessment Triangle (PAT) already in use by emergency care professionals around the world. The goals of this project are to (1) provide a definitive evaluation of the PAT as an assessment tool for use by paramedic providers in the prehospital care of pediatric patients (age 0 to 18 years); (2) describe the frequency of respiratory depression in children less than 6 years of age presenting to the prehospital provider with seizure; and (3) describe the need for admission for in-hospital monitoring for children presenting to the prehospital provider with apparent life threatening events (ALTE).
