Virgin Islands — State Partnership
USVI Emergency Services for Children
Oct. 1, 1996 - Present
- Project Overview
- The purpose of this project is to apply for federal grant funding under the Emergency Medical Services for Children Program, Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The goal of this project is to ensure integration of EMS services to meet the needs of children through development and implementation of clinical protocols which include standards of care, injury and illness prevention activities, and continuing EMS provider education. The VI-EMSC State Partnership Program is of significant merit to the overall emergency response system of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The high percentage of children, youth and adolescents living in the territory warrants sustained program planning, policy development, and partnerships to reduce the morbidity and mortality due to pediatric emergencies or trauma.
