EMSC State Partnership - Georgia

- Project Overview
- A process for recognizing an ED's capability to manage medical and trauma emergencies in children does not exist in Georgia. For proper care initially and after an inter-facility transfer, a statewide system of recognition is needed. In addition to establishing this system, 50% Of EDs will obtain trauma recognition and 25% will obtain medical recognition in caring for children's emergencies. The emphasis in facility recognition will be placed on the Critical Access Facilities due to the strategic locations of these facilities for the rural communities. The transfer of children from one facility to another requires guidelines for organization and agreements between transferring facilities. Currently, 69% have guidelines but 90% will have guidelines and agreements. ED preparedness for children will improve from 69% to 79%. Data is collected and analyzed by the National EMSC Data Analysis
Resource Center at the University of Utah. All project initiatives will have before and after data
analysis to measure effectiveness. - Institution
