The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) voted overwhelmingly in favor (95%) of adopting Resolution GA25-02A: Designation of a Nurse Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC) in Every Emergency Department (ED). The vote, held during ENA’s General Assembly in New Orleans, reflects the association’s strong commitment to advancing Pediatric Readiness nationwide and underscores the essential role of PECCs in emergency care.

Why PECCs matter for Pediatric Readiness

  • Enhanced preparedness: PECCs ensure EDs have the right policies, equipment, and training to care for children.

  • Higher Pediatric Readiness: Studies show EDs with designated PECCs consistently score higher on Pediatric Readiness assessments.

  • Better outcomes for kids: PECCs drive higher Pediatric Readiness scores, and high Pediatric Readiness scores are associated with improved outcomes.
