Celebrating the accomplishments of the EMSC Scholars and Fellows

The EMSC Scholars and Fellows Programs have officially wrapped up, and EMSC is proud to recognize the outstanding work of all participants over the past 18 months.
Five scholars joined the program:
- Anne Adema, MD – Assistant Professor, University of Colorado School of Medicine
- William Cebulskie II, MSMEd, NRP – EMS Service Manager, Pleasant Gap Fire Company
- Vishal Naik, MD, MEd – Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician, Lurie Children's Hospital / Northwestern University
- Kelly Pretorius, PhD, MPH, MSN, PNP, RN – Nurse, Indiana University
- Emily Sentman, MD – Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician, Nationwide Children's Hospital
Three scholars will be continuing their impactful work through funding awarded by the Pediatric Pandemic Network. Pretorius and Sentman have received Pilot and Emerging Issues Project Awards, and Adema has been honored with the Mentored Disaster Research Career Development Award.
The EMSC Fellows Program has also come to a close for this year Over the course of the program, 13 fellows engaged in targeted learning experiences, mentorship, and project work focused on strengthening Pediatric Readiness and leadership in EMS and ED systems.
Reflecting on the experience, fellow Jess Davis, BA, NRP, EMS CE-I, a former EMSC State Partnership manager who now works with Region V for Kids, shared, “I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to have been a fellow. I learned so much about all of the hard and dedicated work that goes into every level of what EMSC does and the critical nature of collaboration across all of the domains. I got to work with some of the best in pediatric emergency care and loved every moment of it!”

- Jess Davis, BA, NRP, EMS CE‑I – Ohio EMSC State Partnership Program Manager (Knowledge Management)
- John Erbayri, MS, NRP, CHSE – Prehospital Outreach Program Director, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (Knowledge Management)
- Katelyn Perl, MS, CHES® – Florida EMSC State Partnership Program Manager (Communications)
- Luis Restrepo, BSN, RN – Registered Nurse, Children’s Hospital Colorado (Advocacy)
- Isabel Sanchez‑Cano, MD, FAAP – Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellow, University of Florida (Advocacy)
- Duane Spencer, BS, NRP – Paramedic & PA EMSC State Partnership Program Manager (Advocacy)

- Jennifer York, APRN, MNSc, CPNP‑AC – Pediatric Trauma & Surgery Nurse Practitioner, Arkansas Children’s Hospital (Trauma)
