2026 Cohort

EMSC National Pediatric Readiness Quality Initiative (NPRQI) Collaborative is back with a new cohort launching in January 2026. Whether you are already using the NPRQI platform or just getting started, this is your opportunity to improve care for children in your emergency department (ED), enhance your site's Pediatric Readiness, and prepare for the upcoming 2026 National Pediatric Readiness assessment.

Formerly known as the Pediatric Readiness Quality Initiative Collaborative (PRQC), the collaborative builds on a foundation of success that began in 2018. Participating EDs from across the country will come together to make measurable, data-driven improvements in pediatric emergency care.

NPRQI equips EDs with tools to measure, evaluate, and improve pediatric clinical care. While children make up 27% of ED visits, many departments have low pediatric volume, lack standardized pediatric care processes, and may not have pediatric-specific quality improvement (QI) plans. NPRQI helps EDs, no matter their pediatric volume or resources, easily implement pediatric QI and ensure children across the U.S. have access to high-quality emergency care.

Whether your site is new to NPRQI or already active, joining the 2026 Collaborative offers structure, coaching, and peer support to accelerate your progress.

Teams will select one or more high-priority pediatric care areas to guide their QI projects:

  • Pain Assessment
  • Abnormal Vital Sign Reassessment
  • Suicide Screening and Management
  • Blunt Head Trauma

Each focus area includes bundled intervention guides, measures, and shared learning opportunities.

  • Strengthen your team’s Pediatric Readiness
  • Learn from peers and national experts
  • Use data and evidence-based tools to improve care
  • Build lasting QI capacity within your ED
