New prehospital pediatric surge data report
- Published January 31, 2023
While the impact of the pediatric respiratory surge on hospitals has been widely covered in the news, prehospital settings have been significantly affected, too.
A new report from the Pediatric Pandemic Network (PPN) and Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Program highlights EMS agency data on 911-initiated activations for pediatric patients with symptoms of influenza-like illnesses.
The data, sourced from the National EMS Information System (NEMSIS), is inclusive of all U.S. states, D.C., and three territories from 2019-2022. The data are categorized by age group (0-3, 4-5, 6-11, and 12-17 years) and combined ages (0-17 years).
The report was created by Health Resources and Services Administration in partnership with PPN and EMSC and will be updated periodically.
