This policy resource and education paper, designed to support the American College of Emergency Physicians policy paper "The Role of the Emergency Physician in Emergency Medical Services for Children," describes the development of the federal EMS for Children Program, the importance of the integration of EMS for children into EMS systems, and the role of the emergency physician in EMS for children.

Prehospital Pediatric Readiness Project

The Prehospital Pediatric Readiness Project (PPRP) is an initiative of the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Program with support from multidisciplinary organizations. PPRP empowers EMS and fire-rescue agencies to become "Pediatric Ready," or prepared to provide high-quality care for children in accordance with national recommendations.

The Prehospital Pediatric Readiness Project (NPRP) is supported by the EMSC Program through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of an award (U07MC37471) totaling $2.5M with 0 percent financed with nongovernmental sources.
