A Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC) in the EMS or prehospital setting is an individual—or a designated team—responsible for coordinating and advancing pediatric-specific activities within an agency. This role focuses on ensuring that children receive safe, effective, and developmentally appropriate emergency care across all aspects of prehospital operations.
A PECC may serve in a dedicated role, or the responsibilities may be assumed by an individual already serving in a leadership, education, quality improvement, or clinical capacity. Regardless of structure, PECCs act as pediatric champions for their agency, helping to integrate pediatric considerations into training, policies, equipment, quality improvement, and system planning.

Important note: Before registering or formally identifying as a PECC, individuals should consult with agency leadership. If an individual or team is serving as a PECC(s), that function should be clearly recognized and communicated across the agency to support collaboration, accountability, and system-wide impact.
