Who Should Complete the Assessment?

Any facility with an emergency department (ED) that cares for children was asked to complete the assessment in 2013 and these same facilities are encouraged to complete the 2015 reassessment (excluding Veterans hospitals). To verify if your facility participated in the 2013 assessment, please contact the National EMSC Data Analysis Resource Center at (801) 585-9158. All EDs that care for children, whether or not they participated in the 2013 assessment, are encouraged to complete the 2015 assessment.

To encourage widespread participation in 2013, the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Program distributed assessment invitations to nurse leaders, including nurse administrators and managers, who were asked to complete the assessment. Assessment notification letters also were sent to ED administrators to inform them about this quality improvement project and to encourage them to work with their facility’s nurse leadership to complete the assessment within the allotted time frame. Please note, notification letters will not be mailed during the 2015 reassessment initiative.
