Tennessee — State Partnership

Tennessee EMSC State Partnership & Rural Expansion Project Grant

Jan. 1, 1994 - Present

Grant Number
H33MC31540
Project Overview
The grant goal is to implement and maintain the Federal EMSC PMs, and continue to enhance the pediatric readiness of our state’s EMS System, by:
1. Developing processes to assure compliance with PMs 01, 02, 03, 06, 07, and 08.
2. Continuing to maintain achievement in all other performance measures.
3. Increasing state average score in National Pediatric Readiness Assessment by 10 points.
4. Participating in pediatric readiness quality improvement collaborative that begins January 2018 as defined by the EIIC.

Tennessee also received funding for the EMS for Children State Partnership Rural Expansion Program grant. Tennessee’s Rural Expansion program includes 34 EMS agencies located in the rural counties of our state. Our plan is to work with each agency individually to identify a PECC, and then provide resources to all of these individuals. We are also setting up quarterly training sessions with them to provide them with education they can take back to their agencies. Once they have established this robust program within their agency, we are awarding them with a pediatric safety transport device. This is an item that has been proven to be a need in our state, especially in rural counties. This grant has provided us with a means to address two very important performance improvement areas in enhancing pediatric emergency care in our state.
