Improving health outcomes of children and the resiliency of children, families and communities impacted by emergencies, disasters and pandemics.

The Pediatric Pandemic Network aims to empower health care systems and communities to provide high-quality, equitable care to children every day and in crises.

All children deserve access to high-quality care.

Children have unique physiological and developmental characteristics, making them particularly vulnerable in emergencies, disasters, and global health threats. Too often, though, disaster preparedness and response efforts overlook children’s needs. The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed and exacerbated nationwide shortfalls in pediatric care, from staffing and supply shortages to a lack of system-wide coordination.

The Pediatric Pandemic Network (PPN) was established to address those gaps.

The solution: a collaborative approach, led by children’s hospitals.

Through PPN, children’s hospitals serve as regional hubs for improving care for all children in pandemics, disasters, and every day. PPN’s hospitals work with regional and national programs, academic institutions, community organizations, and individual experts to share pediatric-related information, educational resources, and best practices.
