The Gulf 7 - Pediatric Disaster Network (G7) is a Pediatric Disaster Care Center of Excellence (COE) that aims to build pediatric disaster preparedness and response capacity throughout the Gulf Coast region: Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Puerto Rico.

About the Gulf 7 Pediatric Disaster Network

G7 is one of the three Pediatric Disaster Care Centers of Excellence (COE) federally-funded through the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR). G7 is committed to ensuring that every child in the Gulf Coast has access to the medical care they need during a disaster, no matter their ability to pay. We are building on existing foundations in pediatric clinical care and emergency response by enhancing coordination mechanisms and incorporating relevant initiatives such as telemedicine, evidence-based clinical guidelines, simulation education, drill scenario expertise, and special care units. G7 aims to harness and develop best practices around disaster preparedness and response, and to share these practices at the local, state, and regional levels. We bring together private and public entities, such as regional healthcare coalitions, emergency medical services, public health and emergency managers, as well as representatives from national organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics, Emergency Nurses Association, and American College of Emergency Physicians. This allows us to provide a multi-pronged approach to address gaps in the care of children across the disaster cycle spectrum of mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery for nearly 7 million children in the Gulf Coast region.

mission 4

A collaborative network of healthcare providers committed to the development and implementation of best practices and resources for the care of children and families affected by disasters in the Gulf Coast region.

vision 2

A future in which all healthcare providers in the Gulf Coast region have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to provide exceptional care to children and families affected by disasters, and in which children and families in the region have access to high-quality care during times of crisis.

Our Network

Our network includes Texas Children's Hospital as the main site, along with Children's Hospital of New Orleans, Children's of Mississippi, Children's of Alabama (UAB), Emory, University of Miami, and University of Puerto Rico. We have also integrated leadership roles within our regional healthcare coalitions (RHCs) to ensure that we are working together to provide the best care possible to children in need.
