00:05:59 Rachael Alter: Very unique location for the Office of EMS 00:06:30 khart: The Day After Tomorrow - It depicts catastrophic climatic effects following the disruption of the North Atlantic Ocean circulation. A series of extreme weather events usher in global cooling and lead to a new ice age. 00:16:22 Anna Sessa (NH EMS for Children): Nope. 00:16:40 Kjelsey (Chelsey) P: No, unfortunately. 00:19:41 Rachel Ford (she/her/hers) | Oregon EMSC: Have not added it to the Oregon Administrative Rules, but it has been a mandatory field in the annual renewal application for transport agencies for the last few years. Similar to New Jersey: Our non-transport agencies are out of the loop because we do not regulate them. 00:23:20 Minkler, Marc A: Maine BLS units only needs 1 EMT and essentially anyone can drive. ALS = 1 paramedic and anyone can drive. 00:25:23 Anna Sessa (NH EMS for Children): Impressive and thank you! 00:25:59 Cynthia Wright Johnson: The most significant challenge Maryland has had with "PECC" is the language in the PM. We too are struggling for staffing at all levels but with SOE orders have re-instated a significant number of clinicians. The response yesterday to Baltimore City from 7 states and every county was a demonstration of the desire to do the right thing! 00:28:07 Renee Escamilla: @RachelFord with Oregon has a similar PECC designation process as Alaska. Also similar to New Jersey: Alaska non-transport agencies are out of the loop because we do not regulate them and it is hard to keep continual communication. 00:30:56 David Edwards: Staffing (losses), EMS agency closures, and educating new providers are overriding issues right now in Virginia. Adding PECC as a required agency position is a non-starter with other required positions already stretching the talent and burdens on smaller agencies. 00:34:42 Morgan Scaggs, (she/her): My comment to Kate in a meeting recently, was that we are trying to teach everyone to swim but right now, we just need life jackets. So offering real world, ready to use tools when possible is what I need to do. Keep the effort moving to improve the knowledge on how to do QI, but give them a lift to start. 00:35:07 khart: My elevator speech is: Do you have children? Do you have confidence in your current providers, that they know what to do if your child has a critical issue? What happens when you call for an ambulance and you are told, were not coming. Help us. 00:35:58 David Edwards: I agree that some degree of allowed regional PECCs is the only way to go in some rural areas especially. 00:36:37 Rachel Ford (she/her/hers) | Oregon EMSC: @Morgan: Exactly! 00:36:42 Minkler, Marc A: Dave Edwards you are 100% right on both statements!! 00:39:27 Cynthia Wright Johnson: Life Jackets are truly needed 00:40:08 Morgan Scaggs, (she/her): I want to be part of it as an observer more so than working on my own project....just don't have the bandwidth right now. 00:40:26 Anna Sessa (NH EMS for Children): I don't think right now is the time to do this in NH. I am going to keep on with what I've been doing and reassess maybe later this year or next year. Hope to meet with the EMS Chief and discuss how we may integrate it into mandates of licensing. 00:41:03 Anna Sessa (NH EMS for Children): I feel like just collecting the annual data is a huge ask for EMS providers. 00:43:55 Cynthia Wright Johnson: Maybe because of our requirement for one EMS data system has allowed us to provide the agencies with their annual data - Calls, Peds Calls and EMS Clinicians. The data analysist runs the data the first week in January and then we send it to each EMS Agency with the invite for the survey. Again - statue mandates EMS Public Safety uses the state ePCR for EMS. Commercial interfacility may chose any software that is NEMSIS 3.x compliant... and I am comparing fruit to vegetables to tofu. 00:44:26 khart: I think we need to start the conversation at the Federal Level. Our Secretary of Health, Dr. Levine was recruited by President Biden. We worked together everyday in our EOC. When she left I said, "Please don't forget our MRC". Three weeks later Biden offered 100,000 dollars for the MRC. We have a meeting on Feb 10thwith ASPR/HHS/OEM/NACHHO to discuss an application for releasing the funds. Traditionally these funds only went to the MRC, now states can apply for a piece of the pie to support our education for providers. Pediatrics is a tremendous need and I am in with both feet. 00:45:01 Cynthia Wright Johnson: Rachael - is this 2021 into 2022 or 2022 into 2023? That would impact our ability to participate. 00:45:23 Rachael Alter: Time frame for Phase 2 is mid-March through June 30 00:45:32 Rachael Alter: 2022 00:46:03 Cynthia Wright Johnson: Thanks - four months in this year. Got It 00:46:10 Morgan Scaggs, (she/her): I'm 10.5 years in and the move to 130K happened during my first year 00:47:20 khart: YES! Eric gets it. As a force together we can show the need through the statistics. Right now we have Emergency Funds due to the Pandemic, but this is not sustainable. Is there a PECC at the Federal level within HHS/ ASPR? If not why, now is the time to ask. 00:47:21 Morgan Scaggs, (she/her): @Eric YES, YES, YES 00:48:24 khart: ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ‘Œ 00:48:28 Anna Sessa (NH EMS for Children): How about new resources we could use as carrots for agencies to recruit additional PECCs. I also think a central registration site would allow easier across-state efforts for recruitment/retention of PECCs, have a wider list of offerings like education, grant options for equipment, etc. 00:49:27 khart: Does PECC have trainings on TRAIN? 00:50:05 Cynthia Wright Johnson: MD - just set up online request process for hospitals to go outside of the Commercial EMS contracts for patients transferred out of the ED - to LTC or to higher level of care. Medicare has been covering it โ€ฆ but when the SOE ends the authorization ends. 00:51:59 Ardith Aspaas: For Indian Health Service, I am discussing with my leadership to participate in phase two. Iโ€™d really like to use the phase two project to work on one domains of quality. I am also seeing the value of the PECC role. @Margo where you are at with your program, I would love for IHS to eventually reach. 00:52:48 Cynthia Wright Johnson: We have tried to feature one of the EICC EMS training modules in our state EMS News .. and then sending it to the Champions from our state EMSC Coordinator. They don't all read the state EMS newsletter (please don't tell our editor). 00:53:26 Rachael Alter: Thatโ€™s fantastic, @Ardith! 00:54:12 Cynthia Wright Johnson: March 13 2020 was our date to call 250 people to cancel a conference too. Feel your sadness Anna ๐Ÿผ 00:55:22 Erica Kane: Go Indiana!!! :) !!! 00:55:23 David Edwards: Can we steal things from your website? 00:56:17 Ardith Aspaas: I was thinking the same! May we borrow from your website? 00:56:36 khart: Margo would you please share your slides. We can use those to start gaining interest at the state level. You have been a great resource and we appreciate you! 00:57:46 Eric Hicken (NJ DOH): I have to jump to another meeting have a great day!! 00:58:01 Kjelsey (Chelsey) P: Wonderful work Margo! Thanks for sharing! I appreciate the discussion. Hang in there everyone! Day by day. 00:58:03 Anna Sessa (NH EMS for Children): Thank you all, stay well!
